T.L. Walker Named State Bank Senior Vice President in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS – T.L. Walker recently joined State Bank’s New Braunfels Banking Center as Senior Vice President, Commercial Lender, it was announced by Don Stricklin, President and Chief Executive Officer.

Walker has more than 43 years of banking experience, the last 29 years in New Braunfels.  Walker joined New Braunfels National, which opened on July 28, 1975, when it was organized at 1000 North Walnut, serving as President and Chief Executive Officer from 1975 to 1989.  In 1982, the bank was sold to Victoria Bankshares, Inc.  In 1989, after Victoria Bankshares reorganized all of its wholly-owned subsidiaries as branches of Victoria Bank & Trust, Walker was appointed Regional Director for the IH-35 Corridor Region.  His responsibilities included the supervision of nine Texas community banking operations: Bastrop, San Marcos, Wimberley, Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, Seguin, Cibolo, Pleasanton and Poteet.  He served in that capacity until 1995 when Victoria Bank & Trust entered into a merger agreement with Norwest Bank, which later became Wells Fargo Bank.  Walker retired from Wells Fargo Bank on February 29, 2004.

A native of Alice, Texas, Walker was raised in Aurora, Missouri.  He attended the Graduate School of Banking and Southern Methodist University.  He is a past president and currently serves on the board of directors of the New Braunfels Industrial Foundation.  He also is Comal County Representative on the board of the South Central Texas Water Advisory Committee.  A past president of the New Braunfels Noon Lions, Walker serves as a Senior Blue Coat on The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce.
