State Bank Employee Recognized as 2002 Outstanding Crime Prevention Citizen
February 21, 2003
For Information Contact: CEDAR PARK - State Bank Training Coordinator Mark Kesselring was recently named Central Texas Outstanding Crime Prevention Citizen of 2002 in Cedar Park. Nominated by Sgt. Dale Vonnoy, Mark was recognized for his efforts in forging a communication link between area financial institutions and the Cedar Park Police Department that focuses on issues such as security and robbery and fraud prevention. "I brought the idea of creating the Cedar Park Bankers Association with me when I moved to Texas in 2000 to help State Bank open its Cedar Park Banking Center," says Mark. "I had seen firsthand how beneficial the relationship was in Illinois, so I presented the idea here." Although currently the group meets on a less formal basis, the connection between local police and area bankers remains strong. They continue to work together to address criminal activity that affects local financial institutions and, ultimately, the consumer. State Bank also assists the Cedar Park Police Department by sponsoring a neighborhood in 'National Night Out', an initiative that brings police and communities together, as well as 'Shattered Dreams', a presentation by police for high school students depicting the results of drinking and driving. The Cedar Park Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association also is supported by State Bank. "State Bank has a corporate philosophy of giving back to the communities in where it has banking centers," Mark adds. "That's why you'll see the State Bank logo at events for students, the chamber of commerce and other activities that make this city a great place to live." State Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Texas United Bancshares, Inc., a registered financial holding company that is listed on the Nasdaq National Market under the symbol "TXUI." State Bank offers a complete range of banking services in the greater central and south central Texas area. Headquartered in La Grange, State Bank operates 18 full-service banking centers located in the Texas counties of Fayette, Lee, Waller, Atascosa, Comal, Harris, Williamson, Travis, Colorado, Brazos and Gonzales. |
